What Causes Difficulty Breathing?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 May 2016
Question: Since all my current issues began two years ago. I noticed that I no longer breath as I used to in my upper area of lungs. I know it's best to belly breath but did anxiety play a part in the change or maybe asthma. I feel as if there is mild air trapping. Is this part of the inflammation process you were describing

Brief Answer:
No, asthma is not causing this.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
I don't think it is due to asthma.
Asthma is generalized disease of lung. It is not localized disease. It can not only affect upper part of lung, leaving behind lower part unaffected.
So I don't think it is asthma.
Possibility of anxiety related symptoms is more.
Anxiety actually gives you false belief that your upper chest is not expanding.
So don't worry too much.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I just sent you the full pft, i will check in later giving you time to review

I have had an attack this morning, i can go into more detail later. I used my time to use the rational side of my brain to convince the irrational that its not respiratory related.

I would like to give you details to it so you can analyze. I will also send to psychiatrist. It had a whole different perspective when convincing yourself its only panic.

Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the PFT report and Chest x ray.
Your PFT report is suggestive of small airway obstruction.
Your x ray report is suggestive of mild Pulmonary hypertension.
So to confirm this, we need 2d echo.
So please let me know
1. Have you ever undergone ecg?
2. Have you ever undergone 2 d echo?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Yes of course friends,

The information would be in regards to my PFTs show normal in that I have no copd . So my issues must be stress/anxiety and or any of mild asthma, lack of adequate exercise and aging of the respiratory system.

So in a stress response what hormones does the body release to cause these reactions and on constant anxiety or panic how long does it take to get these to go away. Do I recall you saying recovery can take some time even a few months.

I am using rational thinking to blame this on anxiety and get and understanding on time to recover
You mentioned anti oxidants. what do you think of the anti oxidant usefulness of Curcumen/Tumeric? I used to take it and bought some again.

I also added D3 back to my diet should add some vitamin b also.

I was thinking an interesting thought. IF, i was to have mild copd or mild asthma, what would be the noticeable symptoms and what later stage symptoms of these diseases would I probably not have yet.

I will admit that my Genralized anxiety disorder has caused me to read way more than i should on these diseases and because i see stage progressions, i look to see if I have any. so the above question would help to know that I do not have any.

I talked to my psychiatrist some time back and we noticed that when all my events of Dsypnea began with some type of anxiety and panic. this was amplified with stressfull events. then with lack of exercise and my initial naieve understanding of lung disorders, I let them amplify and to have my mother die from COPD and observing each stage she went through, I have waited for those to begin in me. I have 7 Pfts over 15 years. Not one has been identical but close enough to not reflect on noticeable changes other than FEF 25/75 You mention that can be reflective of anxiety and stress interactivity.

So with all this, I hope to start a new program that focus on not the physical changes but the mental and see if i can rewire the thoughts that have a grasp on my better health. And I know that too much stress is harmfull to heart and other parts. Heck you mentioned that GERD LPR are affected by it and I wonder if that is what causes my stomach to press against the diaphragm.

Well I wish you a wonder full day in your part of the world, I would love to visit sometime. Most people in the USA do not realize how big XXXXXXX is and how technologically advanced you are. I would love to see but again visiting a strange country has always stressed me because of my life desire for safe travels.

May your god bless you for all you do. I thank mine for you.
