Brief Answer:
GERD may be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.

Since cardiac and pulmonary causes have been ruled out in her case, in my opinion she is having GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease).

Causes for this are
1. Age related laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter.
2. Drugs like cholecalciferol, statins and galantamine can cause GERD.
So GERD may be the cause for her symptoms.

I give you some helpful tips in GERD. Try to follow these.
1. Avoid heavy meals, instead take small meals.
2. Avoid hot and spicy food.
3. Avoid stress and anxiety.
4. Take good antacids like proton pump inhibitors with prokinetic drug combination.
5. Keep 2-3 pillows under head in bed.

Hope I have solved your query.

I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
