What Causes Difficulty In Feeding Solids By An Infant?

Question: hi
my baby is 10 months old. he is not feeding properly. feeding solid foods take lot of time 2 hrs and more for a little to swallow.He opens his mouth for the food but doest swallow it keeps it in mouth for 10 to 15 minutes. he had 2 weeks of treatment (candid mouth paint) for oral thrush. Still no improvement in his feeding. even he refuses to breast feed or drink water even. this is going worse day by day.please help

2. How is the attaining of developmental milestones?
3. Is the stool oily and floats in the pan?
4. Is there any colour change in the hair or skin?
5. Is there any history of recurrent serious infections?
6. Has any immunodeficiency work up been done for your child?

birth was 3.380 kg before 2 weks he was 8.1kg.Height i have no idea. he is walking by support since 7 1/2 months. now also he is walking by support but very fast.his stool is not oily type and no color change in skin and hair. No no case of infection till now except for cough and cold he had 3 weeks back.he was on amoxycillin antibiotic,livolyn and moticope cough syrup. then one day he was crying when i gave him idly with sambar , when the sambar wasnt spicy . i told doctor that he was diagonised with yeast infection 1 week i gave him candid mouth paint .now second week also going to get over. he is not eating properly since 2-3 weeks. but for the last 4 days it is worst.no immunodeficiency workup done

Hi.... Greetings your baby is doing well the weight gain is excellent he is developmentally normal. What would have happened is that during the oral thrush he might have got the fear that food will irritate his mouth. So he has developed a habit to resent or dislike food this is what he is facing now. I suggest that you be more patient with him and keep giving him small aloquots of food which cool and not spicy. Then he will gradually get accustomed to food. As his weight and development are normal you need not worry at all.
