What Causes Difficulty Walking Along With Pain In Legs?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Jan 2015
Question: I cannot straighten my leg and have no pain, difficulty walking, especially up and down steps. I'm 5'2", 110, female, fairly active, aerobics, weights, etc. I'm suspicious I did a little bit too much with one workout recently and this pain was noticed a day later. I can't get to a doctor because I life in a 3rd floor apartment and can't get to the parking lot. It has improved tremendously since this happened 4 days ago but I feel I have a long way to go.

Brief Answer:
The most likely cause seems to be severe muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

After going through your description it seems to be muscle strain. The most likely cause seems to be severe muscle spasm leading to difficulty in strengthening the leg.

My advice for you would be –
* Adequate rest for a few days
* Ice packing over the affected area
* Once the acute pain subsides, Moist heat application over the affected muscles
* Gradual & gentle stretching exercises
* analgesic & muscle relaxants as needed.

If your symptoms are not getting better with the above measures, I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation and management.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
