Brief Answer:
Fungal infection with secondary infection: various suggestions & guidance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the fungal infection and related eruptions. I have analyzed the pictures and can make out that the rash is quite better in term so fungal infection but still there are active areas along with pus containing red pimples.

These red eruptions are due to secondary infection of the area. These can occur in due to certain aggravating factors such as heat, humidity, scratching the area or due to friction.

To tell you about fungal infections and related condition: These are common type of infections which can affect anybody at any site. But more commonly it affects the areas which are more prone for sweating or moist areas (as in your case). More specifically these are related to the hygiene and environmental factors.

Due to hot and humid climate or due to tight and synthetic clothing, it leads to growth of fungus at any part of the body. If the aggravating factors are more then can lead to secondary infection in form of red pimples with pus.

For the betterment kindly follow the suggestion below:

- Keep your self away from hot and humid climate.

- Take two times bath.

- Wear cotton clothes and cotton undergarments to be changed two times a day. Do not wear any synthetic or tight garments.

- Do cold compression or warm water compresses according to the weather condition.

- Do not sit continuously for long hours.

-You can take oral anti histamine like Des-loratadine or levocetrizine two times a day under medial advise if there is moderate to severe itching is present.

-Don't try to scratch or rub the area as can lead to further aggravation of the problem.

As the eruptions are quite red and contains pus in these. It would be better if a course of antibiotic could be taken. In my patients I prefer to give a regular course of antibiotic to treat the infection.

I again suggest you to not to touch or pinch or pop the area as can lead to further aggravation of the problem.

I hope these information's will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.

"Wish you good health and early recovery from the problem"

Hi, thank you for your prompt reply. I am due back at work in a week. I work in a remote location on a mine site which temperatures reach 45 degrees. I sweat a lot when it's much cooler due to my job as a concreter in the construction industry. I can't afford not to ho to work cause I will lose my job if I take any more time off. I am hoping in a week I have healed more before I head back to work. Unfortunately there is no way of controlling my sweat issues. You seem to be correct where the rash has the secondary infection. It seems to be in the areas where there is friction. Will going bsck to work in these conditions make me worse?

Brief Answer:
I suggest you to do simple methods to maintain good hygiene.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Welcome back and thanks a lot for your further details.

I can get from your query that you have main occupation of working a thigh temperature. This appears to be the most important cause of your problem.

In such kind of cases I generally suggest my patients to frequently wash the lower leg area with cold water and wear lose cotton clothes to avoid friction. An antiperspirant powders can also be used to reduce the chances of sweating.

In general the lamisil is prescribed for 2-4 weeks of period but in your kind of cases it can be taken for longer than 6 weeks also. It is quite safe tablet and as such there are no side effects of the same.

I suggest you to do simple methods to maintain good hygiene as guided in the previous mail . Do not try to pinch or pop the area as can cause aggravation of the secondary infection.

I hope this information will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.

"Wish you good health and early recovery from the problem"
