Question : I had an appendectomy, followed by an abcess, about 1 year ago. Is it possible to develop adhesions due to this type of surgery? I have very slight discomfort in my lower right abdomen when I move certain ways.
Brief Answer:
Yes
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Not just that this is possible, but also it is very common to have adhesion after appendectomy especially if it was complicated with abscess. It may later in life cause abdominal discomfort or even obstruction so surgery may be required. It's important to have easier diet if pain occur, lot of fluids, probiotics and avoid fried food and sweets. If pain persist, you should do barium swallow test to see the extent of adhesion. wish you good health. Regards
