default
Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: I have been suffering from a little pain and uncomfortable feeling for couple of weeks in my left side, just above from hip joint. Is this is from urinary tract infection ? There is not such a problem during urination.

Kindly advise what should I do ?

Brief Answer:
A little more information required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This does not sound like UTI.
Is the pain in the abdomen or groin area or towards the back - the spine side?
Without examining it would be very difficult to say what it could be?
You can either consult your GP or a Surgeon who can examine you or you could send us a photo of where the pain is. If it is a pin point location of the pain then you could point at it in the photo. If it is a small or large area then you could tell us in reference to your navel(Umbilicus).
Is there any swelling in the area? Does any swelling come on coughing or straining? Any problem with the genitals? Does the pain go anywhere from this location? Are there any triggering factors to the pain like posture, exercise, eating, lying down, etc.?
Any information you can give would be helpful and could lead us to the diagnosis.
Do let me know. I will wait for your reply.
Take care,

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Thank for your concerns. There is no swelling as such above on the hip joint , where is kidney is located. If I press the portion, there is no such pain is there. There is a discomfort when I sit specially in my back, where kidney is located. I have nightfall problem in past bt it is not frequently. I have read in internet that due to lack of Dihydrotestosterone, back pain can arise. Is it for this ?

I share with every details of mine. I am also not used with heavy weight exercise and sit only in Wooden chair in my office for past four years.

I am waiting for your advice.

Regards,
doctor

Brief Answer:
It is most probably Paraspinal spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
It does not seem like a problem with your organs at all.
Testosterone is not the cause for this most likely.
It is probably a spasm of the muscles surrounding your spine which gets trigerred in certain postures.
Just get an XRay of the LS Spine done and send it to me.
You need to learn Spinal extension exercises from a Physiotherapist preferably and practice them religiously.
Do not put any stress on your spine and the results will be good.
In times of severe pain, I usually advice Tab Cipzox MR as and when required and gives you great relief.
Do not indulge in deep massages or excessive exercise till the pain lasts.
You should be fine but better to rule out any nerve compression so send the XRay report to be sure,
Take care and do not worry,
You are fine.
