Question : Hi Doc, you didn't answer my last question and I saw the question closed.

1. In your last advice you suggested takin medications would reduce risk of transmission by 75%, means that my wife and son are always at risk irrespective me having visible symptoms of HSV1... how can I protect them post the medication is over and symptoms are subsided.

2. Am staying outside XXXXXXX in a country where medical support is unreliable, can I connect with you personally over phone etc to take medical advice and prescriptions for medicines in case of repeated outbreaks. Don't think will be calling on a regular basis. My skin doctor who saw me is an old man and he refused this long distance advice.

3. Lastly have started Herparex and Minolox from yesterday... my sleep was disturbed and feeling bit overwhelmed... are these side effects... I was also prescribed an ointment to apply for 7 days (Muprocin), shall I keep applying or stop the same. I still see two/ three new lesions coming around the same area and for last 3-4 days, one or two old lesions spewing out slight pus mixed with blood. Rest lesions seem to be healing slowly.

Look forward to your advice.

Brief Answer:
Continue treatment as advised.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

75% reduction means that it will decrease the risk of infection in infective stages by 75%. After treatment and lesions subside they will be100% protected. Post treatment no precautions needed as you will not transmit the infection. I will be available on HCM for advice and prescription. What you are experiencing are minor side effects. Do not worry and continue treatment as advised.

Take care

Hi doc, today is my third day of taking Herparex and minolox tablets, my lesions have not started to subside, instead I see sudden aggravation of lesions on left upper back, boils now are becoming bigger with visible pus filled nodes and more pain unlike earlier. Lesions on Right upper back have calmed down a bit though...

I feel very light in head, feeling drowsy and something stretching inside my upper back...

Wanted to understand if the medicines are working fine, I have been asked to complete 10 day course of Herparex and minolox... Any advice, guidance would help here. Am attaching today's lesion photo for your reference.

Continue treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there , welcome back .

Do not worry. Take the medicines as advised. Your lesion could be possibly having secondary bacterial infection. I would suggest you to get pus swab tested for gram staining and culture to rule out bacterial infection.

Also try to maintain good hydration(drink lot of water/juice)

Take care
