I read your question and i understand your concern. At age of 69 with type 2 diabetes history, situps and crunches more than 5 will eventually give dizziness and spinning and should be avoided. You should start with low exertion exercises like yoga and pilates. Body functions decline with age and at this age with metabolic disorder, heart pumping succumbs and lead to this dizziness when you do sit ups. I would suggest less exertional exercises like jogging or brisk walking. As far as not sleeping is concerned, squatting does not help to get that. Just walk more, jog more, have a regular diet and lifestyle plan and if still a problem use some low dose sleep aid like xanax. You may try other meditation techniques for sleep. Talk to a sleep disorder specialist if the issue persists.
