Posted on Thu, 31 Jul 2014
Question: I am titrating from 300 mg. effexor, for anxiety. Have been on the med for 10 years. I started mid April, 2014 and am now completely off the med for 7 days. About a month ago, I started getting whooshies in my brain and ears. It has now gone to only my ears and I am very dizzy. My husband died 7 months ago, also. Three nights ago, I had a complete meltdown, crying, screaming, etc. Then another happened the following day. I have been to my doc who has never heard of the whooshies, etc. I have also talked to my therapist. Help.

Brief Answer:
These are withdrawal symptoms of efferex

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Greetings
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic

I completely understand what you have gone through recently. I am extremely sorry for your loss.

Now moving on to your symptoms of whooshies, there is no term in medicine called whooshies. Probably by whooshies you mean dizziness, vague discomfort, symptom of blocked ears etc.

These symptoms are nothing but typical withdrawal symptoms from efferex drug. These symptoms shall slowly settle down as the drug gets washed away from your system. You have to relax. Meditation shall help you. If its severe then we will have to slowly wean you and some drugs would be required.

Do let me if you require any additional information anytime. Take care.

Best regards,
