Question: Hello
I am 38 years old. recently i have gotten dizzy. I feel like i am "tipsy" and my head is heavy.
I get dizzy randomly. I could be laying down or brushing my hair.. just now i felt like i was about to fall off my chair. I went to the doctor but he wasn't much help. I am in process of changing the doctor.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be Labrynthitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
If you are in good health otherwise and have no anemia, you are likely to have an inner ear problem like labrynthitis which is often due to a viral infection and will pass with time.
Movements of the eyes, head or neck may bring it on. So avoid movements which produce the dizziness as much as possible. Close your eyes and be still when you have the symptom.
Betahistine ( betaserc) can give you symptomatic relief.
If you are not better is a few days it may be good to see ENT doctor.
Best wishes,

Thank you. Does Labrynthitis have other symtoms? I am not in any pain.
Also i've never had a allergy issue and this season its been bad! I had to get Claritin. Could this spring allergy be the causing the dizziness too? or caused the Labrynthitis? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Welcome

Detailed Answer:
There can be Tinnitus, a kind of buzzing sound.
Claritine is mildly sedating and may make the dizziness worse. If you have nasal stuffiness, you could use a non sedating antihistamine

Brief Answer:
If you are okay with it, please continue

Detailed Answer:
Desloratidine is an improvement of the old molecule which in some individuals produced a decrease in alertness which some perceived as dizziness.
If you are okay with the molecule and are sure that it is not contributing to the dizziness, please continue it by all means.
