Question: What are some of the causes for an elevated heart rate? Other symptons are weakness when standing, dizziness, a little sweating. Can that just be an anxiety attack? Thank you for your advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension.

The fact that your symptoms are triggered by standing up goes in favor of the above disorders.

Have you measured your blood pressure values today?

Coming to this point, I would recommend having some rest and taking plenty of water.

If this situation persists, especially if you have an irregular heart rate, I would recommend going to the ER for some tests:

- a resting ECG
- a chest X ray study
- complete blood count for anemia
- blood electrolytes for possible imbalance
- kidney and liver function tests
- fasting glucose.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr.Iliri
