default
Posted on Fri, 30 Oct 2015
Question: I have been to many doctors for my condition and Noone has seemed to find out what is wrong. I have had a tender feeling in the back of my skull and head aches in the back of my head at the base of my skull. It's tender or sore feeling when you press on it but not painful it comes and goes. When I increase activity like running i feel the pressure build up in the back of my head. I have been having occular migraines for a year now since this started. In dim lit rooms the lights flicker and sometimes under certain artificial lighting. I have have shakiness and dizziness as well I do not know what other test to ask for. I have had ct of brain, neck mri, hearthe ekg, echo, and blood work and all came back normal. I'm not sure what the problem could be. When I get up after sitting so long I get this weird feeling where I feel like I'm rocking front to back and my legs get a weird pulse feeling. It's frustrating aND affecting my mood overall.

Brief Answer:
possibility of vestibular migraine

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns .
You seems to be having vestibular migraine in view of history of headache, dizziness, light flickering.
For treatment you should follow a healthy life style with timely food, adequate sleep and avoiding triggers like chocolate, coffee .
For prophylaxis you can choose from drugs like, propranolol, sibelium, topiramate, divalproate. I will recommend sibelium(flunarizine) in my patients.
For acute episodes pain killers like naproxyn, diclofenac may be taken with antiemetics.
Consult a neurologist for examination and treatment prescription.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
