Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I understand your concern and would explain that a careful differential diagnosis of different causes of dizziness should be done:
- inner ear disorder, which could cause a peripheral vertigo
- vertebral artery stenosis, which could be aggravated by cervical spondylarthrosis
- low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension
Are your symptoms aggravated by the head movements?
What are your blood pressure values?
I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination, a resting ECG and some blood lab tests:
-complete blood count
-blood electrolytes
-PCR, sedimentation rate (inflammation).
You should carefully monitor your blood pressure in sitting and standing up position.
A head up tilt test may be needed to exclude possible orthostatic hypotension.
An ENT specialist consult and labyrinthine tests are necessary if suspicions of a peripheral vertigo are raised.
If all the above tests result normal, I recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the cervical arteries and a cervical spine X ray to exclude possible stenosis of the arteries, which may lead to insufficient blood supply to the posterior part of the brain, leading to dizziness.
Hope to have been helpful!
Best regards!
Dr. Iliri
