What Causes Dizzinss, weakness And Blurred Vision?

Posted on Fri, 23 May 2014
Question: It has been happening for quite some time now where out of the blue I get dizzy, lightheaded, weak, and have blurry vision. I have been to the ER several times for this and they have done blood tests, orthostatic blood pressure tests, and glucose test, and all came back normal. But it keeps happening every now and then and they still can't figure it out. So I didn't know if someone here could give me more insight?

Brief Answer:
Your psychiatrist can help you better

Detailed Answer:,
Hi,

I am Dr Aslam here to help you.

The symptoms you describe can be due to hypotension, hypoglycemia or some cardiac causes.
As hypotension and hypoglycemia is already ruled out, I would refer you to a cardiologist for an opinion. If the heart check also comes within normal limits the symptoms can well be caused by severe depression, social anxiety and PTSD. In such case, your psychiatrist can help you better.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further questions, I will be happy to help you.

Wishing healthy and peaceful days ahead.

Thank you.

Thank you for your response! I have had EKG's and other heart monitors done and it all came back normal. Two years ago I had an MRI done and later was diagnosed with Intracranial Hypertension. The MRI report said: T2 hyperperintense foci which showed as white spots all over my brain. The report said it could be lymes disease, MS, or some other infection. So...that still kind of has me a bit worried and wondering...

Brief Answer:
That worry is out of scope

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

As you had this MRI done two years ago, your doctor might have already ruled out these conditions, and it is unlikely for infections like lyme disease,to be there as such for such a long duration. Also, infections are associated with some systemic features like persistent fever/weight loss, which you are not having. So you need not go that way.

And,you also had a normal cardiac evaluation. So,In my opinion, your psychiatrist will be the one who can guide you better. Also note that, symptoms caused by such functional disorders can be helped to a greater extent by having a strong and positive attitude of mind.If we do not give over importance to that, our body will start adjusting its own.
Hope you got cleared. If you have no further questions, you can close the discussion and rate the answer.
Take care,Thank you.
