Brief Answer:
I can't say for sure if a hospital is what you need but at least a doctor

Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon and thank you for your question. You've not provided very much information to go on with respect to your gender, age, medications you're on, or medical history so I can't comment in detail on the symptoms you're referring in terms of most likely cause. What you describe could occur in something as simple as a viral illness involving the ears/upper respiratory tract to something as complicated as more significant infectious process and even something going on in the head itself.

However, if you are referring to something that's going on DAILY and this has been the case for some time (as in the past few months or thereabouts) then, I would agree that a good examination by a doctor (not necessarily a hospital) would benefit you and that the acuity of the situation is probably not as severe as if symptoms just started yesterday and were getting worse.

Along those lines if you just developed DIZZINESS out of nowhere in the past few DAYS which would be more like a spinning sensation and you are nauseous, vomiting, unable to get out of bed and have other symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, unable to hold food or drink down etc. THEN, in that case I agree that a HOSPITAL ER would be your best bet so that they can do rapid testing and maybe an imaging study of the brain to be sure you're not suffering from something really serious.

The problem with an ER at a hospital is that you will likely sit around waiting for things to happen up to half a day or longer at which point they may not do much anyways except tell you that you still need to see X, Y, or Z specialist....so why not just choose either a PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR to begin with....or even try an Urgent Care Center to get the initial examination done and then, there would be time to play with if they decide that you would be able to hang in there with some temporary prescription for something until you can see a specialist...if that's even necessary.

In any case you would probably not doing yourself any disservice if you were to drink as much fluid as possible (water is best) and avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages as much as possible, make sure you are covering at least small meal portions 4-5x daily so you keep your strength up and replace fluids as necessary in the event of diarrhea or vomiting.

If I've adequately answered your questions could you do me a huge favor by CLOSING THE QUERY and being sure to include some fine words of feedback along with a 5 STAR rating if you feel my suggestions have helped? Again, many thanks for posing your questions and please let me know how things turn out.

I'm sorry I wrote that post very quickly. I was taking seroquel Xr 150 mg and lexapro 10 mg daily for 1 year. I stopped a week ago. Other than that nothing had changed. I'm a 29yo who're female.

Brief Answer:
Thanks for the clarification

Detailed Answer:
The additional information could be of some importance and thank you for sending it. When stopping medications such as Lexapro and Seroquel....sometimes the abrupt stoppage itself can cause what basically amounts to withdrawal symptoms and dizziness as well as general malaise could be part of that picture.

You also could have a bad urinary tract infection and may benefit from a urinalysis and/or CBC with differential taken from the blood. Given your information of having multiple sexual partners....STD's could also be checked for as a point of completeness to your workup if you've not any of that type of testing done in a long time but I doubt it would be significant for the acute symptoms of dizziness/vertigo though certain forms of STD's can cause clouded thinking depending upon the stage of progression. Also, hepatic enzymes would be good to get along with general electrolyte studies and potentially some thyroid screening hormones such as TSH and FT4.

These more specific suggestions for lab tests now represent part of a metabolic workup that could reveal some abnormalities but could also be done as an outpatient, again, unless there are more acute symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, inability to hold fluids down, and fever that doesn't easily remit with Advil or Tylenol.

Since it does sound as if you had a primary physician at one time (and maybe still do) who was writing refill prescriptions on the Seroquel and Lexapro why not call them to see if they would be willing to see you in their office? Another possibility along the lines of infectious entity could be an otitis media though you didn't mention earaches or a viral labrynthitis which would be a viral infection of the inner ear that can clearly cause dizziness and discomfort WITHOUT the earache, fever, or the other constitutional symptoms that an ER would be most interested in for them to really counsel you with anything more than conservative suggestions that I've mentioned.

All the very best.

Once again I ask that If I've adequately answered your questions would you consider CLOSING THE QUERY and including some words of complimentary feedback along with a 5 STAR rating if you feel the renewed suggestions have helped? Let me know how things turn out- I'm interested in what happens.
