What Causes Dry And Scaly Skin In The Scrotum?

Question: Yesterday, I noticed my scrotum was unordinarily dry, the skin was scaly and looked like it had cracks throughout, with some skin starting to flake / peel off. The coloration seemed to be reddish, though it didn't feel itchy. Hoping it was just dryness, I applied moisturizer, but this morning it was even more dry, and the skin looked raw. After that I looked online thinking it was jock itch, but the images online of that, don't look like what I'm dealing with. Either way I bought some Lotrimin AF, followed the directions, but after about an hour, the skin was still extremely scaly. I am sure, I don't have any STDs. What do you think this is, and what would you suggest doing?

Possibility of Tinea Cruris

Dear XXXX
Dry scaly raw skin of the scrotum suggest the possibility of fungal infection. Sometimes it may not be associated with Itching.
Exact diagnosis will depend on clinical examination.
It would be very helpful to guide you further of you could upload the clinical photograph with the image uploader available on Healthcare-Magic.
If it's Tinea Cruris (fungal infection of the groin) . Local application of combination of antifungal and steroid ointment will give the much needed relief.
Kindly get back to me.
Take care
