What Causes Dry Cough And Sore Throat?

Question: Hi, Due to recent change of weather i am suffering from sore throat and dry cough for the last 2 weeks and only taking homeopathic medicine, but it seems that its beneficial. Kindly advise with treatment plan as my daughter & wife is also having dry cough. Thanks & Regards, XXXXX

Brief Answer: bronchodilator, mucolytic, proton pump inhibitor Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for the query. Dry cough with sore throat due to change of weather is common and if it is persisting, you can take a bronchodilator with mucolytic preparation along with proton pump inhibitors and steam. Please take Syp. Ascoril 10ml thrice daily, Cap. Ocid 20mg twice daily before meals, Tab. Acocontin 75 mg once daily and steam inhalation twice daily. If there is fever, you make need to start an antibiotic. If the cough persists even after use of above written medicines, please start with Seroflo Rota caps 250 twice daily with Rotahaler. Brief Answer: No side effects Detailed Answer: Thanks for the query. There are no side effects for the treatment suggested by me in an otherwise healthy adult. You can take this for a week. Child should be prescribed medicine after consultation with a paediatrician. Otherwise, Syp. Ascoril 5ml thrice daily along with steam inhalation can be given to the child. rest of the drugs need not be given to the child. Feel free to ask another query. Regards

could you please call on +0000 to discuss as i am also suffering from tonsllitis and need line of treatment for that as well as was taking homeopathic medicine for tonsilitis but there is no relief.

Tonsillitis if chronic is helped by use of antiseptic gargles like hexidine which decreases the frequency of episodes. Otherwise depending upon the symptoms, acute episodes require antibiotics and other symptomatic treatment. If the episodes persist in frequency of a monthly or two monthly fashion, surgical removal of tonsils helps. Homeopathic medications, I would not like to comment as I am not an expert in the field. Brief Answer: Descritive Detailed Answer: Thanks for the query. Please take Moxiclav 625 thrice daily for five days (so two more days). Along with that an analgesic like paracetamol (in case the pain is there) can be taken along with a B complex. Please use hexidine gargles after each meal and avoid oily, spicy and junk food. If cough is there, then Syp. Ascoril can be taken as already stated. Hexidine gargles or any antiseptic gargles will help decreasing your number of episodes of throat infection. Thanks very much for the reply, please let me know the side effects as i will be taking 15 tablets @625 each for 5 days, can i take twice instead of thrice to avoid the side effects for the same. Let me know the consequences if one takes for 3 days instead of 5. Regards, XXXXX

Brief Answer: Stomach upset Detailed Answer: Thanks or the query. Only important side effect with this medicine is stomach upset (loose stools), otherwise this is a pretty safe drug. This side effect can be minimized by taking lactobacillus preparation along with. No consequences for taking it for 3 days except that it will tackle mild infections and severe infections will need more days of antibiotics. Feel free to ask another query. Regards
