What Causes Dry Scaly Skin On Penis Foreskin And Shaft Of Penis?

Question: i have dry scaling like look on penis foreskin all the way upto the centre of the shaft of the penis. while masterbating, it pains as the penis grows in size. please suggest the treatment

I can understand your concern for skin disease on prepuce and shaft of penis. You said you have dry scaly lesions on penis. There is a pain during masterbation. Before to come to some conclusion I would like to have answers of few questions...

- duration of disease?
- is it for the first time?
- please describe the lesion..scaly,crusts,oozing,erosions,patches,plaque.thickenes, fissured,pus discharge...etc
- history of internal diseases like DM,HIV,hypertension...etc
- history of any medicines you take
- past history of any disease
- family history of any disease
- merital status
- history of exposure..extramerital sexual relationship?

Please be XXXXXXX to give answers..and kindly post the few clear photos of affected parts.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX
Duration: past one year or so.
Its not the first time. But it does not happen everytime. However there are phases like it will become scaly mostly upon masterbating and stay like that for a week. Next week it remains ok even upon masterbating.
The lesions are scaly and dry and whitish dry and skin becomes senitive to touch causing burning sensation. Thus long masterbating causes discomfort and skin burn. This happens only during masterbating time and discomfort goes away after about 2-3,hours of masterbation.
There is no known history of any diseases.
I do have sex but always using a condom.
I am attaching 2 pictures.
Please suggest do's and don't s and the treatment.

Hi,

Thanks for photos.

I read history and saw photos. I feel that most probably you may be having allergic contact dermatitis. As you said,mostly it occurs after masturbation. I do not know what you apply on penis before and during the masturbation. Do you masturbate with hands?Do you use soap or some oil or or some cream? What ever it is..it may be the triggering factor leading to such problem.

I would suggest as follow...

- to prevent relapse kindly stop masturbation
- oral steroids in tappering dose for few weeks
- if needed,antibiotic may be taken
- if there is itching,take antihistaminics like levocetirizine
- mild steroid cream combined with antibiotic might improve the disease

Please consult nearby dermatologist for firm diagnosis and have perfect treatment.
