What Causes Dryness In The Arms After Taking Vitamin B12 Shots?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: Hey again :)
Was at doc today. Got flagyl and ciproxin. He felt my stomac, and just took a CRP (infection test from blood of finger) It was fine he said, but he thinks I have a low inflamed apendix.
Tomorrow its CT scan. The doctor ordered a ultrasound, but the doctor thats performing the ultrasound changed it to a CT scan. As I understood you, that means its more safe to belive the results of it than the ultrasound, yes?
My doc says he does not think it will get worse for now, and that the antibiotics will most lightly kill the inflamation. But it will have to go some day, and I agree. Even though I am dreading the operation more than I can say.
Even the doc says it is a litt uncertain with my symptoms that surgeons will do the op, because of my weird symptoms. Example: I took a b12 shot, and NO problem. two days after, I took same b12 shot, and nurse hit a nerve. Immediately I felt like fainting, and bloodpressure dropped. For THREE hours I was laying in the doc office after. And a very rare thng happened during that time. My skin in my lower arms dried so much that it cam off like snow when I rubbed my arms. Doc did not know why or what that could be.
Do you have any idea what that might be?
I was feeling very bad for all of that day, just because of the shot. Very pale, and dizzy, and shaky. So thats part of hy I am so scared for operation, when just a little needle affected me like that. Imagine what an operation will cause...

Hello!

Welcome back on HCM!

I agree with your doctor that a CT scan would give more information than just an ultrasound.

I am sure that the antibiotics you are taking will help fight against the inflammation or the infection present in your appendix.

Regarding the reaction you had during the injection, I would explain that it is called vaso-vagal reaction. It is an activation of the vagal nerve (parasympathetic nervous system) from the activation of the receptors in the vessel wall.

It is more frequent than you think, because it happens to a lot of patient.

It does not indicate an autonomic nervous system dysfunction. It only means that you are a little more sensitive than other persons.

Regarding the dryness in your arms after this reaction, I think that it may be related to vessel constriction in this part of the skin, leading to dehydration of the skin.

Anything, there is nothing to be concerned about.

You are just an hypersensitive person and that is all.

But, during surgery the situation is much more monitored than during this situation. Your organ functions are closely monitored by several machines, which monitor your heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygenation and all these machines are monitored by a specialist of the field (anesthesiologist) who is accustomed to deal with different types of patients (including those with serious heart or kidney disease).

So, I can assure you that even if surgery is needed, every thing will be OK for you.

So just relax and try to take it easy!

I know it is hard, but you do not miss anything by just trying!

I would be happy to review your CT scan and blood test results.

Let me know about everything!
