What Causes Dull Pain In Lower Back?

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jul 2015
Question: For the past two months I've had a dull achey pain in my lower back, which is exacerbated by running, box jumps, and mildly during squats. I do work out generally at least once a day, but other than that I live a pretty sendentary lifestyle. I do notice a little sharper pain when I lay in bed for very long periods of time, but is quickly alleviated by switching positions. I have never been woken up by my back pain and it's generally unnoticeable throughout most of the day. I'm planning on going to the doctor, in the upcoming week but would like an idea of what I am dealing with. I occasionally take anti-inflammatory medicine, but the pain is generally not bad enough to warrant the use. Other than the anti-inflammatory medicine I haven't done any other corrective action.

Brief Answer:
Your backache may be due to weakness of muscles or vitamin deficiency.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Your backache is likely to be related to weakness of the back muscles and bones or due to vitamin and trace elements deficiency. Excercises of back muscles are useful. Vitamin and trace elements supplements will be useful in fulfilling deficiency if any. You can get your vitamin D level as it is an important cause of backache. You can take supplements of vitamin D3 if vitamin D is found low. You can further investigate in detail by X Ray and MRI of lumbar spine. You can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
