Question : Should I be concerned with a dull pain in my right arm between the elbow and shoulder?

                                    Brief Answer:
Could be muscle pain.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Dull pain, if on the left side and radiating to back or neck, concerning.
2. If its between elbow and shoulder, possible muscle sprain or injury. The pain should reduce with rest.
3. Also look for symptoms like palpitations (hearing heart beats- thumping feeling of heart), sweating, dizziness, breathlessness. If none of them and there is no constricting or heavy chest pain too, not to worry.
4. Take ibuprofen for pain. It is probably not related to the heart.
Hope it helps.

I have atrial fibrilation and on occasion may "sweat". I live in a desert community with temperatures exceeding !00 degrees fanenhite during summer months. I am ususly in airconditioned environments when sweating occurs.

                                    Brief Answer:
Due to sympathetic neural system.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for replying.
Sweating on occasions, especially in relation with atrial fibrillation is due to increased neural activity (sympathetic neural system). Same neural system, increasing heart rate, will also increase sweating.
As sweating is commonly occurring in air-conditioned environments, it is possibly secondary to anxiety or neural activity. Have good hydration. Otherwise, not to worry.
Hope it helps.
