pain in this region is most commonly referred from your hip joint and also from your lower back.

early arthritis in the hip joint could be the cause and can be diagnosed by watching you walk and examining the range of motion in your hip joint.

if your dr suspects arthritis of the hip joint then an X-ray could be done to confirm the diagnosis.
