What Causes Dull Pain On Left Side Of Chest And Back?
Question: Hi. I’m a 24 year old non-smoker, and I’ve been dealing with a dull pain on the left side of my chest and back for about 5 months. I’ve had an EKG and chest X-ray about 3 months ago which came back fine, so It’s not a heart thing. I’ve been reading a lot of articles online about lung cancer in young non-smokers and I’m starting to get scared.
While I don’t have a persistent cough, nor do I get overly exhausted (to a concerning level anyway), I haven’t found a cause for my chest and back pain. Is there a way to either rule out lung cancer or to test for it? Is there anything else that as a young non-smoker I should be looking for as a sign of lung cancer? Thank you for your help, I just don’t want to be scared and uncertain anymore.

Brief Answer:
CT chest
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I would advise you to do a CT scan of chest with contrast and a bone scan
If any lesion is found in the scan then biopsy has to be done to rule out lung cancer
Young non smoker can have weight loss and and swelling in the supraclavicular lymph node region as first sign of lung cancer

Thank you very much for your reply.
I've scheduled a CT scan and will hopefully get some answers there. I haven't expereicened any weight loss and (as far as I can tell) no swelling of my supraclavicular lymph nodes.
Thank you for helping me try and find answers

Brief Answer:
Not lung cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Since you are not having any cough and weight loss i do not think you are suffering from lung cancer
For pain you can take paracetamol tablets 500 mg twice daily after food
There is nothing to worry
