Posted on Sat, 25 Oct 2014
Question: During a master health checkup on 26.09.2014, I was diagnosed with TRIVIAL TRICUSPID REGURGITATION in Echo-2D. I am having edema in both the legs for the past 6 months. My BP range, which was 120/80 in Feb 2011 is now showing 121/71 (22.03.2011),123/71 (11.12.2012), 120/70 (20.02.2013),111/62 (09.02.2014), 100/80( 26.09.2014) and 124/60(28.09.2014). Whether this needs detailed cardio investigation.

Brief Answer:
You need detailed investigation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have tricuspid regurgitation. Your odema may be due your cardiac condition or you may have some renal problem also. Your blood pressure is normal. No need to worry about that. But you should go for detailed investigation of your cardiac and renal system. You should go for 4D echo, ecg, treadmil test and complete renal function test. Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.

Brief Answer:
Your kidney function test is fine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear.

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

Your kidney function test is perfectly fine. Your urea, creatinine, urine analysis everything is normal. Ultrasound abdomen suggest normal kidney. So no further test is required for kidney function. Its absolutely fine.

You have tricuspid regurgitation so you should go for cardiac examination. Just check your left ventricular ejection fraction and wall motion, even in Simple echo it can be tested. So if you have results of that then please send me, if you don't have then go for that.

Also check your serum protein level. Because you have oedema so your protein may be low. Just check it once.

No need to worry.

Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer you again.

Hi, Doctor,

Thank you for advice. The protein level found in the checkup is
PROTEIN TOTAL - SERUM / PLASMA
Investigation Result Unit Range
PROTEIN TOTAL - SERUM / PLASMA 7.4 g/dL >2 Year: 6.0 - 8.0.

The odema is around both the ankle areas alone.

I herewith attach ECHO 2D report done during the Medical Checkup on 26.09.2014 along with all other reports for your reference and valuable advice.

Brief Answer:
Your reports are normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your all reports.
Your protein reports are absolutely normal. Your all other reports are perfect. Your echo report suggest that your left ventricular wall motion is normal. Your ejection fraction is also very good. overall your heart function is very well.
Now no any further investigation is required for your tricuspid regurgitation.
Don't worry its just mild regurgitation with normal all other parameters.
Just take treatment according to your doctor's advice.

Hope I have answered your all questions. If you still have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.

If no any further questions then please close the conversation and rate the answer.
