What Causes Edema Of Left Foot After Wearing Elastic Stocking?

Question: I underwent surgery for removal of small veins in my left leg due o the valves not working. This was last Monday. I returned on Thursday for an ultrasound that I was told showed success. I am not to return
XXXXXXX until January.
I am to wear aJobst elastic stocking during my waking hours for 4 weeks. I have been doing so.
Today I have considerable edema in my left foot. The leg is also swollen, but the foot is much more so. I do have quite a bit of discomfort in the foot.
I do have stage 3 kidney disease that sometimes produces edema. But, this is quite bad

Brief Answer:
It is due to stocking.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, the edema of the leg and foot is due to compression stocking. It might have blocked the lymphatics leading to this situation.
In my opinion, you should stop using the stocking for few days until the swelling is resolved. Keep the affected limb elevated for most of the time, even during sleep.
I prescribe Lympedim tablet to my patients with similar complaints.
Please consult your doctor, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
Nothing to worry. It will come down.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
