                                            Question : I've been suffering with anorexia off & on since I was12 yrs. old  I'm 42 now and my ED has been back for approx. 5 yrs. I went down to my lowest wt. approx.2-3 yrs. ago, also dealt with Gastro Paresis . The new thing now  is edema in my ankles everyday now for months. Is that a sign of something? I was down to66lbs.& am now a few lbs. under 80

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it is very difficult to comment on cause of your ankle edema but still we can discuss the possibilities .A main possibility is that you could be having hypoproteinemia since you suffer from anorexia , so a protein levels along with albumin levels is recommended. A thyroid profile is also recommended plus an evaluation of cardiac system is advisable .
Edema on ankles is a symptom , we need to find out the cause for that which will require detailed history and examination ,it will be recommended that you see a physician for this .
