Question : I'm suffering from amoebiasis and my ALT comes out today is 80 after blood test. Is it sign of worry?
I had unprotected sex 15 weeks before and I had Hep B test done after 8 weeks ( antibody, core antigen and surface antigen) and it comes out negative.
Is it 100% accurate result?
Does my ALT is high because of amoebiasis or there are chances of Hepatitis?
I'm worried because internet says window period of hep b is 6 weeks - 6 months.
My doctor said during hep B ALT is about thousand. He said my result is 100% correct and I don't need to repeat test again.

                                    Brief Answer:
Not due to hepatitis B.may be Medications likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
ALT can be high due to the drugs which you are taking for amoebiasis, fatty liver , or if alcoholic, etc.If the ALT level is marginally raised then nothing to worry and can be due to either of these factors.
Hepatitis B antibody core Ag,and HBSag all are negative after 8 weeks.
So the results are accurate that you are not having Hepatitis B infection. So you can allay fears of Hepatitis B.
You can get back to me for any clarifications.
Thank you
