Question : I am being treated by a cardiologist for minor mitral valve prolapse and unstable blood pressure. I woke up at 3 a.m. today with an elevated blood pressure reading (I have a good monitor), I took 5 mg Ativan and, then, 25 mg Toprol XL. It was 196/90, and now it's 168/86. I am a woman. I have no other symptoms...not breathless, no pain in my chest, arms, or jaw. I can pass the Stroke tests. Can I safely wait until morning to call my doctor?

Brief Answer:
Can wait until morning to call doctor...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

I have gone through your medical history. You can safely wait until morning to call your doctor. Meanwhile, I advise to take extra dose of Toprol.

You can discuss with your doctor in the morning regarding changing therapy or increasing the dose of drugs you are actually taking.
