Brief Answer:
raised ESR is related to the respiratory tract infection she suffered

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
There are many possible causes of an elevated ESR. ESR is a non specific marker.
A specific cause cannot be determined based on ESR alone.Generally it is followed up with other tests to diagnose medical condition.
High ESR indicate that person is having some infection or inflammation in the body.
But here your mother case, as you have given some history, it appet that the raised ESR is due to respiratory tract infection. ESR will come down with control of infection/inflammation.

I would suggest you to repeat the test after 15 to 20 days. Also go for HB estimation and a peripheral smear to find out if it is iron deficiency anemia.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you. Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.

Take care.
