What Causes Elevated SGOT And SGPT Levels?

Question: my son blood test is showing elevated SGOT 58 SGPT 98 . hE is 15 yr old male. which is the right doctor to go. liver specialist or general physician

You should take your son for Gastroenterologist appointment. HE can explain you about the liver enzymes SGOT and SGPT and why do they rise. You should take all the reports and right reasons for getting these test done to a Gastroenterologist.

Yes these are raised and double the normal range.

How sensitive is this rise, does it show damage to liver than to what percentage. Is it recoverable, somebody said to go for tests of hepatic b c d e.is it necessary.
In recent days his loose motion was two times white in last six months. There is lack of energy as compared to prevent surgery condition. And he has vomiting three or four times. He has slightly higher temperature at palm many a time.

This rise is sensitive in children. It needs further evaluation. Once the cause is found we can say whether it is recoverable. Hepatitis evaluation is also done in such a stage.

Hepatitis A and E present the way you describe. It is right to evaluate on Hepatitis. Please note these are self limiting conditions and leave no scars on the liver if treated properly.
