What Causes Elevated SGOT And SGPT Levels?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jun 2017
Question: My SGOT (40) and SGPT (100) enzyme levels are high. I have fatty liver diagnosed 5 years ago. I also have borderline cholesterol. I am a male aged 38 years. I suffer from constant bloating and gas to the extent that my stomach protrudes abnormally. 2 days ago I got up in agony with my left foot swollen and feeling of pins and needles in my third toe. Today the leg is better. What treatment should I follow for my liver and my bloating? Any idea what could have caused my leg pain - my potassium and magnesium levels are normal.

Hi,

Thanks for your query on HCM

I do understand your concern

“As” per your history please follow like this -

Fatty liver-

1)Take diet that's rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats.

2)If you are overweight or obese, reduce the number of calories you eat each day and get more exercise. If you have a healthy weight, work to maintain it by choosing a healthy diet and exercising.

3)Exercise every day of the week.

4)Add 1 tablespoon of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water.and add a little honey. Drink it 2 times daily, before your meals. Follow this remedy for a 3 months.

5)Take vaccinations for hepatitis A & B

Abdominal bloating-

For abdominal bloating do check your stool for any infection present or not. You can do few things at home like this,
1)Chew your food slowly and thoroughly while eating
2)Try to avoid fatty and spicy foods, processed foods, carbonated beverages, caffeine, alcohol and smoking etc
3)Excess pounds put pressure on your abdomen, pushing up your stomach and causing acid and gas so try to reduce your weight.
4)Do exercise and Practice relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, meditation or yoga and get plenty of sleep.
5)Try to stop unnecessary pain killers
6)You can take Over-the-counter antacids if required or can use prescription medications like Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)
7)You can use peppermint tea bag in hot water for about 10 minutes and drink three cups of this tea a day may help in bloating.

Foot swelling & tingling sensation
It is due to [Tarsal tunnel syndrome] and to confirm it you need a clinical examination by a doctor in your area.

Hope you got your answers.

Thanks
