Question : My wife's TSH level is elevated (9.5 uIU/ml), T3 and T4 are normal. She is 33 years old, had a delivery 2.8 years ago. Doctor advised thyroid medications and follow up after one and a half months with test, including HBA1C.

She also has a finding of a right breast lump, hard, swollen, questionable Fibroadenoma, found on ultrasound, further investigation pending on this. FNAC is advised. She is taking Augmentin 1000 mg daily with some benefit. Any relation with these two? Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Fibroadenoma and thyroid are not really linked.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Two are not really linked. Madam has primary hypothyroidism and needs treatment, also please check anti TPO antibodies and let us know.

She has also been suggested HbA1c, though that too is not linked to either fibroadenoma or hypothyroidism, but as a screening test, it is good to rule out diabetes as well.
