Question: I just recently received by blood test results. My wbc is 11.3, the test indicated that range was high. I'm also pregnant (7-8 weeks). What does this mean?

Brief Answer:
This is a normal wbc for being pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

During the first trimester, the leukocytes (white blood cells) increase slightly and that is perfectly normal. It is thought to be caused by the "physiological stress" of the pregnant state.

Normal range in the first semester is 5.7 - 13.6.

It may increase further (slightly) in the second and third trimesters.

Here is a reference range for you that is specifically for pregnancy:

So, nothing to worry about. It is normal and expected.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.
