Question : I recently had routine blood work to monitor my thyroid. My platelets were elevated at 410 (range = 130-400), and my granulocytes % was elevated at 73.1% (range =45-70%). I'm a 27 year old female with PCOS and slight hypothyroidism, but I am otherwise healthy. What could the causes be? Should I be concerned?

                                    Brief Answer:
need not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to HCM forum.
A platelet count of 4.1L is only marginally elevated and need not be worried.
Elevated total WBC count with increased granulocytes usually indicates some bacterial infection in our body(like UTI, respiratory infection etc). But if you have no symptoms suggestive of such infections(like fever, cold, sore throat, nausea, abdominal pain, urinary disturbance etc), this need not be worried; just repeat the test after 1 week. Only if this persists, we need further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Thank you.
