Question: I JUST HAD BLOOD WORK DONE AND I NOTICE THAT MY EOSINOPHILS IS AT A 11.8%. THIS APPEARS TO BE ABOVE THE NORMAL RANGE AND I WAS CONCERNED. I AM 61 YEARS OLD, 5'2" AND WEIGH ABOUT 136 POUNDS. I HAVE HAD EITHER A SINUS INFECTION OR COLD FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED?

Brief Answer:
It can be due to parasitic infestation also.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. A high eosinophil count can be due to parasitic infestation also. In such case you can go for a stool routine examination to rule out this. Taking Antihelmintic drugs like Albendazole is helpful for this.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
