Question : I was told my liver enzymes were very elevated. It's been two years since I had any blood work done. I am overweight, and know I've been drinking two many beers at night. I sometimes have pain in my upper side towards the middle of my upper abdomen

You are reporting to have very elevated liver enzymes, which always is associated with liver damage. Excessive alcohol consumption and obesity may be responsible for this finding.

The following recommendations are suggested as part of initial evaluation:
- An immediate quitting of alcohol (this should be done under medical advice because withdraw symptoms may develop).
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Upper endoscopy

One month after quitting alcohol the blood work should be repeated again in order to see any improvement.
