More information needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Please provide some more information like What is the levels of urine protein and protein/ creatinine you got from result?
Do you have any associated disease like hypertension or diabetes or thyroid disorders?
Have you done excessive physical activity before the urine test which was performed?
Do you undergo any antibiotic therapy recently before the test?

Can you specify urine protein as well the protein/creatinine level reports?

Above conditions can give proteinuria. Diabetes and hypertension can cause kidney damage and it can give proteinuria also.

Please provide such informations. I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

The levels were for URN total protein - 33.0; for URN Protein/Creatinine - 302. I was not taking antibiotics or had done excessive physical activity. To my knowledge, I do not have hypertension, diabetes or a thyroid disorder.

Brief Answer:
If this is for 1 time collected urine then it is high.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your follow up.

For one time collected urine this is high. There can be possible kidney damage. Protein by creatinine ratio, if it is 302 mg/mmol then it is very high. But if 302mg/g then just above normal.

Possibility of any underlying problem should be ruled out. A renal ultrasound should be done initially. Blood pressure and blood sugar level should be checked. Blood urea and creatinine should be checked as well. ESR and complete blood count should be done to rule out any possibility of inflammatory condition or hematologic disorders.

If all these parameters are normal then repeat the urine tests for 24 hour collection at rest.
So many underlying diseases can give such problem. Glomerular disease, inflammatory processes or systemic diseases like SLE or rheumatoid arthritis can give such problems also.
A consultation with a nephrologist is also well appreciated.
