Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate and clear history.
There are many causes of impotence in patients with dialysis after removal of both the kidneys.
Yes, psychological effects after such a severe disease, the dialysis, surgery, the stress and anxiety all have negative effects on erectile function.
Hormonal changes due to the disease, dialysis add on to the problems.
Physical weakness, fear of having trouble, the extra care taken by both of you also add on.
I would advise you the following:
Counselling:
First of all you have to be very open with your spouse, discuss frankly in details.
Secondly, get in touch with your treating Doctors, discuss with them.
This will allow to have proper investigations related to the sexual dysfunction including the hormone assay, color doppler of the penis and possibly finding the causes of it.
Next step would be to consult a Specialty center dealing with such problem for clinical evaluation, examination, investigations, counselling , possible treatment
and getting the results if it is deemed possible.
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications or if you feel there is a gap of communication.
