Brief Answer: Tests only after detailed examination... Detailed Answer: Hi, Most often erectile dysfunction in young men is from psychological causes where laboratory tests are not relevant. Laboratory investigations are therefore rarely needed. Few tests that are to be done in patients with erectile dysfunction include complete hemogram, blood sugar assessment, serum testosterone level check, prolactin level check and penile doppler tests. Besides these I usually also check for thyroid hormones. But if I were your treating doctor, I would first check your detailed medical history to tailor the needed tests. Therefore for better and cost effective treatment, I suggest you to talk to a doctor first. A day or two sessions of interview with your doctor is recommended before you take up any testing.
