Question : I have abnormal bleeding between periods & excess bloating - what could the cause be . I'm almost 42& I have had an ablation

Can be due to various causes.

The abnormal bleeding between the periods can be due to
-Female hormone imbalance,
-Uterine fibroids,
-Disorders of the uterine lining,
-Uterine,ovarian or cervical cancer,
-Hypothyroidism,
-Endometrial hyperplasia,
-Dysfunctional uterine bleeding,
- taking the blood thinners.
For diagnosis, you need to have an ultrasound scan of your lower abdomen and some blood tests. The bloating can be due to gas and indigestion and may not be related to the irregular bleeding. Do consult your gynecologist for proper investigations.
