Question : I have been suffering from excess mucous condition for about 6 months(often thick & yellow).It started with laryngitis that was cured by antibiotics but this mucous condition continues.

1. You seem to have tried the routine medications over the last 6 months. This exceeds the 6-8 weeks medication period after which this can be termed as a chronic mucus drip unresponsive to medical therapy.
2. At this point, the gold standard investigation will be a plain Sinus CT Scan which will reveal the source of this mucus.
3. These infections including the initial laryngitis are usually viral to begin with, followed by secondary bacterial or fungal infections. I would recommend that you get this mucus examined, especially for resistant bacteria or fungal infections.
4. A newer antihistamine (such as cetirizine, levocetirizine or fexofenadine), an anti-leukotriene (such as montelukast), a steroid nasal spray (mometasone or fluticasone) and steam inhalation should hep reduce this mucus. A hypertonic nasal saline wash (2%-3% saline) will also work better than isotonic (0.9% saline) nasal rinse. Any acid reflux must be controlled.
5. Upload these test results for further treatment options.
