Posted on Wed, 28 Dec 2016
Question: Hi there,
I am in between doctors right now. I have been battling a 50lbs weight gain since being placed on antidepressants. I have never been this over weight and more depressed about it in my life. I have been on every diet, switched pills increased my exercise nothing has worked. Before I had to leave my doctor I was going to ask about the new FDA approved diabetes medication for weight loss. Can anyone please advise me on this.
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Drugs are not the key to weight loss. Weight loss is actually very simple and straightforward -- calories in minus calories out. It has everything to do with diet, what you eat. You should eat no more than 1200 calories per day, log your calories with everything you eat, and stick to this regimen for several months, if you truly want to lose weight. No medication is going to help you.
