Question : I've had excessive gas and some bloating for about a week (not normal). I woke up this morning and drank green tea, took a sip of a green smoothie, and about an hour later went to the bathroom. The toilet was full of blood (darker color), the stool was medium color, on the soft side, and it had long clots in it. I do have a hemmorrhoid that may have ruptured, however it must be more than that because my insides hurt all the way up to my rib cage, particularly on the left side. I had no pain when going to the bathroom. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Should go to ER for further evaluation...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

I have gone through your medical history carefully. At this point, I think you should go to ER as soon as possible.

Bloody stool could be related to hemorrhoids. However, you are also reporting clots in the stool that should be further evaluated through another colonoscopy. Complete blood work is also necessary together with fecal occult blood and stool culture.

Once again, run to ER as soon as possible!
