Question: Good Day Doctor, My name is XXXX XXXX, I am 59 years old but look pretty good for my age and I have a question, for the past two and a half months I have not been feeling well, here are my symptoms: constantly hungry/dry mouth, thirsty/nausea/extremely sleeplyness-unable to keep my eyes open at work/I feel light headed when the sleepyness is coming on-constant scalp itch/unable to focus or concentrate at work/some weakness/extremely tired/spur of moment memory loss, I am so frustrated with the way I feel, I believe it is causing me to be depressed, I went to an endocrinologist 3 years ago, my blood was checked for everythng and they could not find anything wrong, I desperately need help, I simply cannot take it anymore, Please help me or refer me to someone who can. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Investigation is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for using Healthcare Magic. You are suffering from many and varied symptoms. Although you had investigations 3 years ago that were normal, that may not be the case now. Your tiredness and sleepiness may be due to anemia. Your thirst may be a sign of diabetes. Alternatively, these symptoms may be secondary to depression rather than causing depression. These are a few possibilities but there are many other possible causes for these symptoms. It would be impossible to be able to offer a diagnosis without thorough assessment.
I suggest you see your doctor to discuss a thorough course of investigations. Then the appropriate treatment can be started.
I hope this is of help. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger

Good Morning Dr Pottinger, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions regarding my health. I received a letter in the mail recently stating that they are offering 5 screenings for lung, thyroid and a few others, I have chosen to that and I will see my PCP after I get these results, which I was going to pay her a visit anyway. Quick question, What type of blood work should be run on me to check for certain things, I don't know how good a question that is for you or if I am wording it right. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
A variety of blood tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your further question. I understand what you are asking and I can suggest you ask for the following; full blood count (for anemia, infection), urea and electrolytes (for kidney function), liver function tests, blood glucose (for diabetes), C-reactive protein, thyroid function tests. These would be a starting point and any abnormal results would guide further investigations. I expect these will be done automatically for this type of screening without you having to ask but for your own reassurance you could check what is being done. Your lung screening is likely to involve lung function tests looking at lung volumes and flow rates by blowing into a machine.
I hope this helps you and I am available for any further queries as needed.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger
