Brief Answer:
Infants cry to communicate their discomfort

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM

It is normal for babies to cry, so try not to blame yourself if your baby simply won't be soothed.

Infants cry to communicate their discomfort. It may be due to:

1. Inadequate feeds: as your baby is growing, he needs good complementary feeds along with breast milk or formula milk you were giving earlier.
2. Teething troubles: Give her a dose of acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain relief if you feel that an eruption is causing this sudden discomfort.
3. Infants cry sometimes due to colics. Burp him properly after every feed and keep him in upright position for 10 minutes after feeds to make the tummy comfortable. You may try Colicaid drops which are available OTC.
4. Sometimes it's just for cuddling and your comforting touch. You may rock, swing and sing to comfort him. Play soft music to him.
5. Warm bath and soft hands massage with oil or lotion will also help before quiet sleep.
6. Check for wet nappies and diapers. Rule out any uncomfortable clothing or elastic.
7. If your baby's unwell, he'll probably cry in a different tone from the one you're used to. It may be weaker, more urgent, continuous, or high-pitched. If he usually cries a lot but has become unusually quiet, this may also be a sign that he's not well. You need to go for a proper pediatric check up in such cases.

Hopefully this will help you. For further questions,, I Will be happy to help you out.
Take care
