What Causes Excessive Salivation?

Question : I am producing a lot of extra saliva for the past few days, and today when I looked ( I had to look up the term) the Wharton;s duct under my tongue looks very red. I have also had a lump in throat feeling all summer long, but have had that before and have seen an ENT and it usually subsides. But these other symptoms are new. Please advise - what do you think it is and do you think I should go back to the ENT ? Thank you.

I went through the query and understood your concern.

Your explanation suggests inflammatory reactions at salivary gland and its duct. So the excessive salivation may be due to this. Its better to consult your ENT specialist once. Till then you can continue Ibuprofen, do regular betadine / salt water gargle, drink plenty of water. These will help you.

If infection you may require antibiotic and as it is a prescription drug you need to get prescription from your doctor.
