What Causes Excessive Sweating, Nausea And Uncontrollable Bowel Movement?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 Jan 2016
Question: I was driving home and suddenly I began to feel weak and started sweat excessively, then felt like I was going to faint so I pulled off the road. I felt a little nauseous and suddenly had to have an uncontrollable bowl movement that I could not control. I got out of the car and hid in the bushes and stooped down and emptied bowls in one blow out. I got back in car and put my head down until I could continue home.

Now I feel very weak and tired.

What could this be?

I ad 66 years old and take meds for hight blood pressure, and a SSRI. I do have what the doctor calls PVC.

Brief Answer:
Possible food poisoning

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I am sorry you had this experience. Without being able to examine you, one possible cause of all of the symptoms you described would be food poisoning. Some bacteria that contaminate food can release toxins that result in feeling faint, sweating, drop in blood pressure, and nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I see that you did not have vomiting, but you had all of the rest.

There can be cardiac causes (arrhythmias) that can cause light headedness with sweating and nausea, but usually not explosive diarrhea. That is more typical of a food infection or food poisoning.

For now, rest, have bland easy to digest food.

If you have further diarrhea, consider Pepto Bismol as the bismuth in it can help kill some bacteria that cause gastroenteritis. But if your symptoms continue or get worse, then do go in to be seen by a doctor.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.
