Question: 13 year old, not on drugs legal or illegal has been craving water due to intense thirst and dry mount for weeks now. Started getting dizzy yesterday, which is triggering panic attacks. I switched her to Gatorade and making drinks with electrolyte concentrate only. OverNight she downed 4 large Gatorades, 6 individual but larger Fantas, half the fantas with electrolytes, and the a ton of water without electrolytes in the last 12 hours. Still dizzy with panic attacks. She is prone to panic attacks. I just think the thirst and the dizziness is triggering them

Brief Answer:
ORS or gatorade may be taken.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me tell you that intracellular sodium depletion can lead to a sense of increased thirst. She is doing the right thing by taking Gatorade but can also take plain ORS (oral rehydration solution). I would insist her to visit a doctor and to get her electrolytes checked as electrolyte imbalance could be involved. Panic attacks could also make her feel that she is thirsty (when actually she is not) and so I would insist her to see a adolescent psychologist or child psychologist.
