Brief Answer:
sleeping after eating

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are concerned about your father who after eating must return home and take a nap. This is not a physiological cause for his sleeping after eating. This is more than likely a behavioral response. There is no reason for his body to fall asleep after eating. If this has been his pattern for years then he has learned to and his body has become accustomed to sleep after a meal.

He may suffer from a sleep disorder like sleep apnea. Then he could get sleepy anytime during the day. I would recommend that he look into a sleep problem as the cause of daytime sleepiness
